Goodbye to an angel

We had to say goodbye to Andy today. She had been sick for a little while but I thought the vet could do something to help. We went to the vet today to have some blood drawn and find out why she was losing weight. The vet noticed her gums were a little pale and after they drew her blood she needed some oxygen to be able to breath. After some discussion with the vet we decided to let her go. She probably had some type of intestinal cancer. She was with me when she fell asleep and was so peaceful.

I have a favorite quote but it is so hard to remember it at the moment.

"Don't cry because it is over, Smile because it happened." Dr. Seuss

She had a full life and was my angel when I needed it the most. I was blessed with ten wonderful years with her and I will cherish every memory.

With tears of pain and tears of loss we will all go to bed tonight.

Love from,
Karen

  2. Oh - I've only just got back from a weekend away (with no internet access) and just saw your comment about Andy...I'm so sorry!! I've been reading about her being sick recently (even though I haven't had time to comment) and I was really hoping that she'd pull through but it sounds like you did the right thing and let her go with peace & dignitiy. At least she did live a wonderful full life with a family that loved her and that is the best gift we can give our pets, I think.

Thinking of you from far away...
